Something Else To Keep In Mind

It's no secret that we're more than likely heading into some pretty bad times.

Here's a look at a moment from 80 years ago - from what we were taught was among the worst times ever - with a slightly corrected perspective.

It does not mean things weren't as bad as they seemed. Look at it for fuck's sake - those folks are not having a party. They're barely scraping by.

The point is that they did scrape by. They made it. They hung together, they worked their asses off, and they helped make it better.

Russia Russia Russia

It's always Russia.

I went to see The Death Of Stalin, and maybe it's just me, but I can't stop thinking there's an obvious parallel here. There are efforts to scramble our brains - efforts coming from the White House - that seem to sync up pretty well with the main theme of the movie: "Believe nothing except what I'm saying to you right this instant."

Maybe it's not just me. Maybe we need to proceed with enough of a touch of paranoia to keep us mindful of how this shit goes when it really gets going.

Maybe it's about The Russian Daddy State by mere coincidence. And maybe not.

Art is pretty amazing.

Seems A Bit Odd

Propaganda that's good - the stuff that works - always makes for "art" that's cheesy and obvious; and if the fevered results weren't always so deadly, it'd be pretty fuckin' funny.

And, oh yeah.  What's with all the bullshit (ie: propaganda) that comes from the wingnuts about how we can't leave god out of the picture - because that's what the Nazis did?  Bullshit's what I call it cuz bullshit's what it is.

Sound familiar?

Grayson Stands His Ground

I haven't decided yet if Alan Grayson is really onto something, or if he's just another doofus with too much money.  Anyway, at least he seems to be saying what's on his mind and letting the chips fall.

It's interesting to hear about his brush with Blackwater, and then hear that he still thinks they're a bunch of dangerous buttheads.

Here's the story at TPM.com.

But I was thinkin' - remember back when the only people who had private armies were the bad guys in the Bond movies?  Just sayin'.
