The other day, President Stoopid told us the number of new cases is plummeting.
46,600 new cases is not "plummeting".

Memphis shuts down football after coronavirus outbreak, and a party bus might be to blame
The Memphis Tigers football team has paused all practice and group activities after experiencing a novel coronavirus outbreak, saying in a statement that most of the cases as “primarily linked to social events outside of official football activities.” A party bus is reportedly to blame.
The Memphis Commercial Appeal reported that members of the team were on the bus after the Tigers’ 37-24 season-opening win over Arkansas State Saturday, which led to at least 20 members of the program testing positive for the coronavirus and going into isolation for 10 days. At least 20 more are in quarantine after contact tracing. Most of the players reportedly now in isolation play on the defensive side of the ball.
This development jeopardizes the Tigers’ American Athletic Conference opener against Houston on Sept. 18. The Tigers have already had two games canceled due to their opponents’ postponing fall sports seasons. Memphis was slated to play Purdue on Sept. 12 and UT-Martin on Nov. 21, but the Big Ten and Ohio Valley Conferences, respectively, made the decision to delay fall sports.
Fauci disagrees with Trump’s claim that U.S. has ‘rounded the final turn’ on coronavirus
Top infectious-disease expert Anthony S. Fauci said Friday that he disagrees with President Trump’s claim that the United States has “rounded the final turn” of the coronavirus crisis, calling the country’s latest virus statistics “disturbing.”
Other Stuff:
- The Trump administration flew immigrant detainees to Virginia this summer to facilitate the rapid deployment of tactical teams to quell protests in Washington, circumventing restrictions and fueling a coronavirus outbreak.
- Harvard University research suggests young people are more at risk from the virus than previously assumed. A study of more than 3,000 hospitalized patients age 18 to 34 found that 20 percent needed intensive care, 10 percent needed a ventilator and 2.7 percent died.
- The emergency unemployment benefits approved by President Trump last month are already running out, leaving millions of Americans without extra support as prospects dim for a congressional deal to provide more relief for jobless Americans.
- A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study found that people with covid-19 were twice as likely as those without the disease to have recently eaten in a restaurant — a disturbing revelation as several states move to loosen public dining restrictions.
- In December, Peloton was at the wrong end of a bombardment of criticism and memes for running a cringeworthy ad. Now investors are laughing to the bank.
- Israeli will impose a second nationwide lockdown after a surge in coronavirus infections across the country.
