A Couple Of Wins

Yesterday was a big day.

First:

SCOTUS told Texas to fuck off. "You got no call to sue those other states. Shut up and get outa here."

Supreme Court dismisses bid led by Texas attorney general to overturn the presidential election results, blocking Trump’s legal path to a reversal of his loss

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a long-shot bid by President Trump and the state of Texas to overturn the results in four states won by Democrat Joe Biden, blocking the president’s legal path to reverse his reelection loss.

The court’s unsigned order was short, and it denied Texas’s request to sue Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin over how they conducted their elections. Texas has not shown it has a legal interest “in the manner in which another state conducts its elections,” the order said. It dismissed all pending motions about the case.

Justices Samuel A. Alito Jr. and Clarence Thomas said they did not think the court had the authority to simply reject a state’s filing, a position they have taken in past cases. But they said they would not have granted Texas the remedy it sought, which was to disallow the electors from those four states.

So supposedly, everybody who knows anything about the legal stuff is saying it's finally over - Trump got pickled and he's all done now.

Bullshit. He's trying his case in "the court of public opinion" and as long as the rubes keep sending him their welfare checks, he'll continue the scam. Keeping the courts busy is what he thinks is going to keep him out of prison.

Rudy Giuliani immediately went on the air at NewsMax and pretended it was no big deal, and that he had anticipated this all along, and now he'll go with the circuit courts and try to pull a few extra monkeys out of his ass - because of course that's what these cockwombles are going to do because of course that's what these cockwombles always fucking do.

Second:

FDA authorizes the first coronavirus vaccine, a rare moment of hope in the deadly pandemic

The Food and Drug Administration on Friday gave emergency use authorization to the nation’s first coronavirus vaccine, launching what scientists hope will be a critical counteroffensive against a pathogen that has killed more than 290,000 Americans, shredded the nation’s social and political fabric and devastated the economy.

The historic authorization of the vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech for people age 16 and older, just 336 days after the genetic blueprint of a novel coronavirus was shared online by Chinese scientists, sets in motion a highly choreographed and complex distribution process aimed at speeding vaccines throughout the United States to curb the pandemic.

Ever the suck-up shit-licker, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows issued a tough-guy ultimatum to the head of the FDA, ordering him to approve the vaccine yesterday or be fired.

I can't think of a more dickhead move. The FDA was set to make the recommendation today, so there was no earthly reason to jump into anybody's shit. I'm all but certain that little side show served the dual purpose of distracting from the SCOTUS news, and trying to position 45* to steal some credit for something he had practically nothing to do with. He'd already floated the idea that he wanted it to be known as The Trump Vaccine - there's no way that little stunt had anything to do with anything but 45*'s delicate ego.

So anyway, we have a pretty clear path for the Electoral College to do their thing, telling us Biden won, which paves the way for Congress to grow the fuck up and confirm the results so we can get on with this shit already.
