He touches a little on the Backfire Effect - where directly confronting the false belief pushes the believer into a defensive crouch and he's likely just to double down on his ignorance. It's a real and vexing problem.
There may come an epiphany for some of these folks, but it's not at all likely that we'll see it in real time. About all we can do is invite them to doubt their own conclusions, and then just wait for them to realize how "unfashionable" their beliefs have become. When they start to realize fewer and fewer people pat them on the back and nod their approval for the weird shit they spout, then it starts to change. The dopamine rush giveth, and the dopamine rush taketh away.
