COVID-19 Update

In the past 7 days:
Another 14,480 dead Americans
on average, 99.995% of them were un-vaccinated

White House says it expects federal contractors to be vaccinated by Dec. 8

The White House said in new guidance Friday that it expects millions of federal contractors to be vaccinated against the coronavirus no later than Dec. 8.

Why it matters:
Companies with federal contractors have been waiting for formal guidance from the White House before requiring those employees to get vaccinated, according to Reuters.

Driving the news:
President Biden signed an executive order earlier this month requiring federal contractors to mandate vaccines.

What they're saying:
The White House Office of Management and Budget said the vaccine mandate for federal contractors "will decrease worker absence, reduce labor costs, and improve the efficiency of contractors and subcontractors performing work for the Federal Government."

The big picture:
The new guidance requires that any unvaccinated federal contractor hired after Dec. 8 must be vaccinated by the first day of work.
Biden also gave federal government employees about 75 days from Sept. 9 to get fully vaccinated.
