Actually, he's not - he knows his grandstanding on "extradition" is bullshit. But he also knows most of the Republican Primary Voters are deep into fanciful imaginings about how their valiant governor will rise up to save their favorite scamster by refusing to help "the government" and yada yada yada.
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on Demand of the executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.
One sure sign that the Republicans have lost their damned minds is evident in how they consistently speak in contradiction of their own bad selves.
DeSantis is the head of Florida's government. He runs the show for the government. He holds the power of the government in his hands. But there he is, bitching about "the government" like he's totally removed from it.
Here in our little Democratic Republic, the people are the government, and they elect individuals from amongst themselves to manage the people's business, according to The Constitution.
In case anybody needs to hear it again - and I can't believe I have to keep saying this - any clown who decides he can just make it up as he goes along - in spite of what the fucking law actually fucking says - should never be allowed anywhere near the levers of power. Ever.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, a possible rival to Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, said on Twitter that Florida will not work with New York on any extradition requests in case one is necessary for the newly indicted former president.
“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue” with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his “political agenda,” DeSantis said.
