Today I Learned

Actually, more like today I heard this thing and I believe it, and I've kinda got some confirmation on it, although not all my questions have been answered - they call me Mr Equivocation.

So anyway, the bible says some of the main heroes - Moses, Seth, Methuselah, Noah, et al - lived to be old as fuck - like 900 years and shit.

But if we take the part about Seth living to be 912, and apply the counting method of pre- and early-bronze age people, we get Seth dying at 76.

Methuselah: 969 (÷ 12) = 81 years, 9 months
        Moses: 900 (÷ 12) = 75 years
          Noah: 950 (÷ 12) = 79 years, 2 months, and change

This may be simple coincidence, or it may be a clever subterfuge to make the bible seem more reasonable. I dunno. It's just interesting (to me) to think some of the nonsense people believe can be explained with a little real-world empiricism.
