"Disguise" is the perfect choice of words here.

Conservatives know they have a big problem when it comes to their shitty attitude towards women, so MAGA chuds have latched onto the trans thing as a way to pretend (like she says) that their real concern is for the safety and wellbeing of women.

And that in itself gives away the game. It's just another way for them to say women are dumb, and helpless, and can't look after themselves so they need big strong macho assholes to protect them.

"We're going to protect you, dammit (whether you like it or not - remember that one?), and if you refuse our protection, we just might have to protect you to death."

And here's the thing:
