IDK about the manufactured food scarcity thing. I've skimmed thru the section people keep referencing, and while there's plenty of the usual knee-jerk shit about "government bad - must destroy" that we've been getting from the wingnuts for 45 years, there's nothing I've found that lays out a specific plan to fuck with us through the food supply.
Of course, these are the radical libertarians, so they're going to be sneaky about it, and it's not unreasonable to suspect they're doing exactly what a lot of the lefty influencers are warning us about.
So for now anyway, the rational thing (IMO) is to cut way back on a lot of things like beef, and wash the fuck out of those veggies.
Also, it's not a bad idea to start trying to keep track of where your food comes from, so you have a chance to connect the dots when the news breaks about the next massive fuckup.
Remember - this is one big-ass country, and keeping us all fed is a herculean task. Backyard garden plots and a few chickens ain't gonna cut it. We have to rely on the kindness of strangers, but it pays to keep a watchful eye on 'em.
