50% of the Farmer Welfare money is being paid out to 10% of the eligible "farmers". (And don't forget: on the first go-'round, we paid ~$42 million to a pair of brothers in Brazil.) Intel reports indicate that (probably) Russian hackers accessed voter registration rolls in 2016, and about 70,000 names were purged from the databases in 3 or 4 battleground states.
Every time Pelosi passes a bill that's sure to die in McConnell's Senate, she highlights the seeming contradiction of "There's no point in passing impeachment articles when we know Senate Repubs won't budge"
The latest efforts to pretend history doesn't include a GOP that's fucked this place up to a distraction. And oh yeah - University of Tennessee researchers have found that for every 25,000 retweets (by Russian bot farms) of a Pro-Trump-related topic, Trump's poll numbers went up by about 1 point. There's no direct provable causal link (because that's how and why this shit works on us), but there's no denying that the presence of a lot more smoke should tell us there's a fucking fire going on here somewhere even if we're not allowed to see the flames.
They got stiffed again - VISA decided to fuck up their auto-pay thingie for the PO box. It's fixed now. These are good folks doing good work, and they oughta get a fuckin' break once in a while. Send 'em a few bucks. (also: Patreon, Coffee, Pay Pal, etc - click the link)
Nobody is saying the Mueller Report isn't true - they're kicking up dust, trying to take our focus off of the facts
Russia interfered - they did it to benefit the Trump campaign and Trump welcomed the help - Trump has done any number of things trying to obstruct the investigation
There are states asking for help to combat on-going attempts to hack their elections
Nobody should have to feel they're being pressured into becoming an expert on the vagaries of insurance coverage just so they don't get ripped off down the road when they have a medical problem that requires their undivided attention on things other than their fucking insurance coverage.
Science Fiction University will launch this fall - be sure to listen for the parallels of fiction writing and the unreliable narration of our current political drama
A blast from the past - Driftglass ages well. Most newly minted "Independents" seem to be little more than Republicans who are fleeing the scene of their crime, but at the same time still desperately want to believe in the inerrant wisdom of Rush Limbaugh. They are completely incapable of facing the horrifying reality that they have gotten every single major political opinion and decision of their adult lives completely wrong, so instead, they double-down on their hatred of women and/or gays and/or brown people and/or liberals, and blame them for the miserable fuckpit their leaders and their policies have made of their lives and futures. Like German soldiers after the fall of Berlin, they've stopped running away from the catastrophe they created only long enough to burn their uniforms.
