The wife and I spent a year sailing down the East coast of America and I will tell you this; the racism is palatable as soon as we entered New York's Erie canal system and it got worse the further South we went. Seriously met some extremely nice people but casual comments on blacks just Flores us. One couple in on of the Carolinas just tossed us their car keys and told us to throw the keys in their boat when we were done with it. Oh, the conversations about the Northern Aggressions ie the Civil War were eye opening. You know they wished they had a slave or two. You have an extremely long way to go.
