It's very important to remember COVID-19 is still a very nasty thing that can do very nasty things to you.
The newer variants - BA4 and BA5, and whatever else is either coming or is already here even though we don't know it yet - are all getting better at eluding the human immune system, including in those people who've been fully vaxxed and boosted, and who've had the disease already.
And the big takeaway is that you can have a very mild case and still end up with some pretty bad longterm effects - heart, lungs, liver, kidney, whatever.
Disease is opportunistic, so it looks to follow the path of least resistance. Always.
You may be stout enough to fend off the Long COVID thing, but don't count on it.
Long COVID could mean simply that the 7 or 8 years you should have on the tail end of your life won't be there for you because - "Oh gee, I guess COVID fucked up the recovery pathways in your brain that help you not get dementia. Huh - who knew? Learn something new every day, am I right?"
100,000 new cases per day
(that we know of - could be more because we're not testing so much anymore)
30,000 COVID patients in hospital
300 new deaths
every day
