I also want to maintain my sense of humor - as sardonic as it is sometimes, especially in regard to Jan6 - while not minimizing the fact that American democracy is in serious trouble right now, and prob'ly will be for a while.
At this point, knowing what we know, and having seen what we've seen - just so far - none of this is odd at all. Not anymore.
I guess I need to make sure I never stop being shocked by what these assholes have done - and continue to do - but I need to find something that feels like solid ground that I can stand on. Cuz for the last 6 years, the political liquefaction has been pretty fuckin' scary.
And on top of that, I have to make doubly sure that I never ever ever accept any of this shit as "normal". EVER.
In the video clip below, there's a guy who could be Rep Randy Weber (?) R-TX14, waving at the rioters as they assault the Capitol cops and break into the Capitol building, trying to stop the lawful process of an orderly and peaceful transfer of the Executive Branch from one POTUS to the next.
