In terms of the spiritual, or philosophical, or however you choose to think about trying to describe the cosmos, or god (whether Hairy Thunderer or Cosmic Muffin) the opposite of something is what keeps you from it.
The opposite of love is fear.
The opposite of hate is forgiveness.
The opposite of faith is control.
