Spot The Differences

In mid-to-late 1940s Germany, after having been filled to overflowing with Hitler devotees, and millions of Germans who didn't really like some of Adolf's nastier policies and actions but hey - he was good for the economy, there were millions of Germans who claimed they didn't know about the camps, and the near-global atrocities their government had committed in their names.

We all know about at least some of what happened, and we know there's some relatively small chance that plenty of Germans were unaware of the shitty things going on. But there's no way anybody doesn't know about Trump and his merry band of fascist assholes now - not with the kind of almost universal awareness provided by the intertoobz.

So if you're comfortable with being like the stupid motherfuckers we now call "the good Germans", then by all means - stay in your little silo and pretend the bad shit that's coming couldn't possibly hurt you because you're one of the good ones.

All of this is - and should be - obvious. But it doesn't hurt anybody to be reminded that anything that happened back in the day could happen again.

This fascist thing - or oligarchy thing - or plutocracy thing - this authoritarian thing is a cancer on the body politic, and it has to be stopped early.
