Reconcile?

About the hardest thing ever is to forgive somebody when they've betrayed you.

It's not impossible, but there has to be contrition, and atonement, and a demonstration of changed behaviors and attitudes.

I'll say it again:

The Cope Is Strong

There's just nothing that can't be rationalized.

God-knobbers can get extremely good at it because they're very well trained in it, and they get it reinforced every week at church.

On Forgiveness

My default position:

Telling me you supported Trump, and voted for him 2 or 3 times, is like telling me you fucked my dog.

You can admit you were wrong - or you were lied to, or scammed, or whatever. You can apologize and we can talk it out, and I can come to forgive you, and then we can move on.

But here's the thing: You will always be that guy who was going around fucking people's dogs.

But then, along comes this Angela lady, who talks about what forgiveness demands, and maybe I can find something in myself that lets me think a bit differently about it.
