Bummernacht

Tonight marks the end of the last full day before Frank Zappa would finally stop poking Death in the eye.

Zappadan begins tomorrow at 6pm, and runs until December 21st, which uninformed normal people mistakenly identify as the Winter Solstice.

Now, they're not wrong, you understand, but that's the day Zappa was born, so shove over a little bit, pagans - Frank is here.

Happy Zappadan

Today's Today

Tonight, we celebrate Bummernacht - the ending of the last day Frank Zappa simply refused to die.

This marks the beginning of Zappadan - The Festival of Frank - which ends on his birthday, December 21st, when the pagans and the Christians and all those other posers take over.

"Without music, time is just a series of
production deadlines,
and dates by which bills must be paid."

Happy Zappadan, everybody. Expect miracles.

Also Today's Today

And so we've come to the close of another Zappan. Let us rejoice in the rebirth of the freedom to do stupid stuff.

Today's Today

We call this day Bummernacht, because on this day, Frank Zappa decided he would no longer not die.

And 16 days later, on the Winter Solstice, Frank is born.

Today is Frank Zappa's birthday, marking the end of Zappadan; a day of reflection and celebration and feasting - and over-indulgence, if that's your gig.

And The Magic Begins

Last nite was Bummernacht, the last day of Frank Zappa's earthly tour.

And today begins the annual celebration of Zappadan, a time of mystery and magic and the vague sense of dread that all the wrong people are watching and listening to be sure all the right people stay in their assigned places.

And it culminates with the rebirth of the sun - and freedom - on December 21st.

Happy Solstice

At The End Of Bummernacht

On this, the first full day of Zappadan, let's give a close listen to Joe's Garage.

Headphones on, everybody - here we go.

(that oughta keep ya busy for a few days trying to figure that shit out)

Happy Zappadan

"Some people say" that the Miracles of Zappadan stuff is a buncha hooey, but I disagree. During the first Zappadan in 2006, John Bolton resigned. Then the year after that, Sandy Underpants went to the registry of motor vehicles during Zappadan and got a new license plate with no lines, no waiting, and free donuts. All I can say is, it's Zappadan - Expect Miracles.

Happy Zappadan

Tonite (Bummernacht) marks the end of the 21st year since our dearly demented Brother Frank split the scene.  And tomorrow begins Zapandan 2014.  Blessed be the Sheiks and the Weasels and the Pygmy Ponies, and all the rest.

There are more love songs than anything else. If songs could make you do something we'd all love one another.

Happy Zappadan, Everybody

Today is Bummer Nacht (aka: the last day Frank Zappa refused to die), and marks the beginning of Zappadan, the festival celebrating the life and works of one of the best (and sometimes weirdest) people in all of artdom.

Expect miracles.
