100 million American adults are carrying $220 billion in medical debt, with almost $200 billion of it having gone into some kind a debt collection process.
$220 billion is roughly the equivalent of the GDP of the bottom 5 states combined.
Overheard
In our approach to the Epstein FIles investigations, we should employ the same tactics as ICE is using against immigrants.
We round up everyone whose name appears in the files, we put them in concentration camps under way less than humane conditions. We deprive them of medical care, food, sanitary facilities and basic hygiene - maybe we rape a few of them just to reward the guards and keep the others in line. We do all that until we sort out what's what and who's who.
We're doing extraordinarily shitty things to brown people over an issue of possible civil offenses - it makes perfect sense to take the same approach when dealing with people who support those tactics, and who may be guilty of trafficking, child rape, sexual abuse, and possibly murder.
And hey - if you'd like to avoid all that, just surrender to the Marshals and turn state's evidence. We'll have you nice and safe and warm in a cozy little jail cell until we can get around to putting your ass on trial.
And who knows - maybe you won't get fried.

Overheard
I get all warm and fuzzy thinking about black folks turning out in big numbers, sometimes walking miles to standing in long lines to vote in districts that have been heavily gerrymandered in an attempt to tilt the field against them.
Republicans have tried to stop them, but they can't be stopped.
Bigots try to deny them, but they will not be denied.
Black folks showing that kind of grit and determination - in a country half-filled with assholes intent on fucking them over - that's a demonstration of patriotism and courage that MAGA can barely even imagine.
